We came here hoping to get in a good hike on the second day of our vacation. Though the trails are short, the scenery is spectacular. Some of our best photos of the trip came from this little trip. It really gives you the feeling that you're in the tropics.

I was excited about visiting because I am into history. However historical and informative this place is, it is also the biggest disappointment of my trip. The best thing I could say is that there is breathtaking majesty in the views. I also enjoyed the gardens and different cultural temples. I am deeply saddened to see such utter disrespect for... My family stopped here after hiking half of Waihee ridge trail earlier in the morning. The path to the top is paved and offers great views of the needle. Lots of steps. The highlight of the stop, however, was the stream below. We came prepared with clothes and shoes that could get wet, and we brought a few snacks and... More

Unbelievable, must see ! We are a family of 4 (twin 12 yr. old boys) and stopped in on our way back to the airport. Only wish we could have planned more time to stay, very cool place I will never forget.

Cool drive into the valley, and into the state park itself. The amount of hiking you can actually do in the state park is quite limited, pretty much you only can go on the paved walking trails/ view points. We did it all in pretty much 20-30 minutes and we were taking our time with our 11month old daughter. We... More

$5.00 parking fee (credit card only as they get robbed for cash!), short walk and pause on the bridge above the stream to admire the 1200' Iao Needle. An easily-collectible and unforgettable experience. Centuries ago, King Kamahameha fought a pivotal battle in this rocky terrain.

That was probably the greatest dissapointment from Maui for us. We knew the beautiful pictures of Iao needle and the valley but they are all taken without the views of traces of civilisation- not so difficult to take them like that. We were looking forward to some hiking that day but the park offers just a very short stroll and... More

This is a beautiful place to visit when you are in Maui. Make some time to come take this easy hike to the Iao needle, you won't be disappointed.

Lush rainforest park. Great place on a hot day as it is so cool. Some signage gives a brief description of the important history of the area. The walk and the pictures that everyone takes of the Iao Needle from the bridge makes this site worthwhile. Getting the best view of the Needle means climbing well over 100 steps which... More

On a clear day, the views are beautiful. The hikes and walks are easy and simple. There are so many tropical plants and it feels like you're deep in a jungle, even though it's easily accessible. On a rainy day, the plants are still wonderful to look at.
