Interesting stop but a great deal of walking and climbing stairs unless you stay in the parking area. The view there is fine. Clearly a phallic symbol for the original Maui inhabitants as a site to organize for war.

This park is worth the hour it takes to visit. The parking is limited and costs $5. There are a lot of steps on all the trails in the area although they are made of concrete pavers and well maintained. This is a beautiful valley...More

Guess we got lucky and had a beautiful sunny experience at the Iao Needle. There is a $5 parking fee (lots of parking when we visited in May). It is an easy walk on a paved trail around the grounds, which are lush. Hawaii Tropical...More

First, there is not enough parking, and parking is expensive along with your access fee. We had a much better time down the hill at the Iao museum. Lots of free parking, no access fee, great paths, pools, history, buildings and restrooms!

It's an easy hike up to see the Iao Needle, and it doesn't take very long. They also have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. It's so green there. It was crowded when we went there midday, so I would recommend coming a bit...More

It's straightforward to get here by car and you can see the "needle" easily from the bridge. There are a couple of short hilly walks that are worth doing to see the river and gardens and get better photos. You can swim in some of...More

Iao valley has something for everyone. I love to go there hiking, picnicking or swimming in the very cold clean water. I often go there to the free cultural areas where they have typical homes of early cultures on Maui. History about the island Iao...More

Very scenic area located in a narrow valley below steep cliffs. It was interesting how this site gets so much rain and other parts of Maui are desert. Bathrooms were not working.
