My wife and I specifically went to this golf club to see the Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse. It is very impressive and the setting is fantastic. We were able to walk into the clubhouse and noted a number of FLW design features inside (e.g., doors, lights, etc.). Recommended.

Love playing this course. Unfortunately, the winds were 34mph+ the day we played making the round pretty miserable. The wind was so strong at times I felt I would be blown over. Being a private club, they no longer allow access to the locker rooms for clean up afterwards, a disappointment due to the price one pays to play there. Will I go back, yes I will and hope the winds are not as bad as they were the day I played. One of the nicer courses on the island.

King Kamehameha Golf Club is a beautiful place to appreciate the Frank Lloyd Wright design of the building and the surrounding scenery. The club is open and free for non-playing to visit and walkaround. A self-guided tour brochure is available at the entrance.

The interior tour of the multi-level club is also interesting with lovely paintings and a beautiful statue of King Kamehameha. Also, the golf course is lovely and exceptionally well maintained. This is a must stop in Maui if you like architecture.

A beautiful course, and will maintained, tough greens but that makes it interesting. I'm a old duffer and still enjoyed playing King K.

Since words completely fail me in describing how gorgeous King Kamehameha Golf Club really is, let's just say that it goes to the top of my Must Play list. Being a Frank Lloyd Wrightophile, I was immensely curious to see the Marilyn Monroe clubhouse, which was visible from my condo 10 miles away. Marilyn commissioned Wright to design a house for her and husband Arthur Miller, but they divorced soon after. The owners of the club wanted a Frank Lloyd Wright design, so the original plan was dusted off and Voila! - the world's largest and most unique clubhouse. In fact, the pro shop is so long, a wedge couldn't cover its distance. But how does an ordinary schmook like me get to play a fantastic private club like this? Simple. I became a member for a day and off I went. And oh man, at 720 feet above sea level, your ball really moves out there. Fairways were unusually wide and offline drives stayed in play. How they get you is around the greens where the Bermuda grass is terrorizing and chips need to be low and accurate. The waterful hole at #11 is so beautiful that you lose concentration since the approach shot is over a pond to a tight green. I recommend going for broke on the par 5 18th while keeping your second shot out to the right. And if you have a moment, stop and smell the roses along the way. This is the prettiest course I've ever played and the 18th hole is totally breath-taking.

We booked as non-members so we were relegated to an 11:00 tee time. When we arrived at 9:30 there was no one there so we were allowed to tee off whenever we wanted. Only saw one other group all day. The course was in excellent shape. The wind was up. Some drives were 300 yds with the wind and some were 170 yds into it - and uphill! Great views of the island and volcanoes. Clubhouse has to be seen to be believed. Friendly staff. Nice lunch in the cafe afterwards. Not a cheap round but in-line with Maui Golf. We enjoyed our experience.

I'm lucky enough to know a member and had the pleasure of playing two rounds during our recent Maui visit. Thanks to the wind and the lay of the land I had a few 320+ yard drives, enough to make me feel like I really can play golf. We won't discuss the holes going the other direction.... :) The course is well maintained and challenging with the most incredible views. If you get the chance to play here, do not pass it up!

This is a private club but can be accessed by the general public in one of two ways: anybody can play for about $260 per round; and the club offers reciprocity to those who belong to other private Golf clubs, at the “bargain”rate of $209 per per round. So it is not cheap. It is however a wonderful golf course. For the most part the course is not difficult, and is in no way “tricked up.” What does make it a challenge are the greens, which are lightening fast. It Is very picturesque with beautiful views from almost every hole. What aso makes the course very challenging is that it is almost always very very windy. As the course goes back-and-forth along the side of a mountain, the trade winds are very strong, especially beginning in the afternoon. Whether you are playing with or against the wind, it is often a two to four club difference. In addition, it is not particularly pleasant to feel buffeted by the wind continuously. Nonmembers apparently are only offered afternoon slots, when the wind is at its peak, as presumably members prefer to play in the morning for a good reason. Having said all that, it is a lovely golf course and, where it not for the wind, we would have unequivocally loved the experience, in spite of the expense. The clubhouse itself is billed is having been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, which is a little bit of a deception, as it was based on plans for a residential house that was never built in California. The outside indeed looks very much like a Frank Lloyd Wright building, but the inside does not. So – use your own judgment: I hope I have given you a good idea of what to expect there.

I like to take the kids golfing in the afternoon. There are very few golfers and less pressure for the kids. There was only one other two - some that we saw on the front nine. The course is not as heavily played as the other courses in Central Maui. It’s private, but does allow non-members to play. It is very well kept. The staff is very friendly. We finished the front nine is little over an hour.
