My cousin had recommended we go to Wai Kai for a quiet, safe and affordable place for family water activities, and he couldn’t have been any more right.

We got there by car, and couldn’t believe it was only $50 for and $20 for children to use all the watercraft via the Play Your Way Package (which 4 hours) which I thought was really affordable compared to what I would pay in Waikiki. We got to use their kayaks, aquabikes, stepboards, SUPs and took time to lounge on their floating cabanas. It was very quiet in the morning which made it easy to switch activities. Anytime we wanted to step away and snack at one of the eating locations, the 4 hr timer was stopped.

The surf machine looked like a lot of fun too, so I’ll try that next time.

We really enjoyed our visit. More affordable then Waikiki, wasn’t overcrowded, and fit in a lot of activities in 4 hours. I would definitely return.

Wai Kai didn’t miss a detail. The venue is incredible with amazing views, plenty of entertainment and exciting action at The Lineup wave pool.

We surfed, ate, and went out to the lagoon’s floating cabanas to relax. The paddle boards and water attractions kept us there almost the entire day!

My wife found a cute surfer book written by a local in the surf shop. Most of the items seem to be sourced locally here in Hawaii.

At night, professional surfers from the North Shore put on an incredible display of talent while music and ambience surrounded the pool. We ate dinner overlooking the water and toasted to an amazing day!

Highly recommend you check out The Lineup whether a beginner or advanced surfer. Our skills improved so much in a single session, and we watched the elite surfers mastering tricks in real time! The entire family will enjoy eating, hanging out, watching, and surfing!

Just dined at this hotel establishment and it was less than satisfactory. Our waitress Ashley S was not the greatest. We had a group of 8, our food was brought out two at a time, with time in between. The burgers that were ordered were overcooked. By the time some of the other plates were brought out some
Had finished their plates. The last plate that was brought which was seared Ahi with roasted potatoes and the potatoes were completely raw. We let our waitress know and she brushed it off like it was nothing. Only half of our group got refills on our water. She picked and chose who to give more too. Very unpleasant first experience of someone that just moved to the Army base.

Opening day, finally, at Wai Kai. After several delays and restarts, the first phase of Hoakalei commercial development is complete. Wai Kai features a 100-foot-wide manufactured wave pool for surfing at all levels. New to surfing, they offer surf lessons, paddling lessons, and board rentals. If you’re looking for something more laid-back, there is a lagoon where you can paddle about in either a kayak or a canoe. Once you have worked up a thirst and an appetite, you can dine at The LookOut. The LookOut provides you with a front-row view of the surfing action and out to the lagoon and Pacific ocean; While you are dining or enjoying your favorite beverage. There is a clothing retail shop selling some excellent apparel. Overall initial impressions - very nice; my only concern is parking while there is ample parking now; once this place takes off, I didn’t see any area for overflow parking.

From the second we walked in, we couldn’t wait to get in the water. My two teenage daughters were nervous at first, but my youngest, who had been the most nervous, took to it like a seasoned pro, surfing on her first wave. My other daughter and I took a couple waves to “get it.”The coaching staff and visiting pro surfers all gave us tips that made learning quick, easy and fun. We all agreed that it was an incredible experience and we can’t wait to go again.
As someone who’s shoulders aren’t the greatest anymore due to injury, I thought my surfing days were behind me. Not having to paddle to catch the waves allowed me to surf again which made me extremely happy.
All the amenities available on top of being able to surf make The Line Up my kids number one requested “WE HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN!” vacation experience.
The restaurant and the overall vibe of the whole facility is incredible. Nothing but smiles, laughter and happiness. I hear there are other great things to do on vacation in Hawaii but all my we want to do is live at The Line Up and surf all day.

My friends and I were looking for something fun to do last week Saturday. We came across The LineUp at Wai Kai on TripAdvisor and booked the "Kayak, Stand Up Paddle Board & More in Ewa Beach" for four adults. Packed up our bags and headed out.

It's located across of the Ho'akalei Golf Course right on the water. What a site to see! There is an ample amount of parking and it's free. There are also EV charges for all of your electric vehicle owners. Bike racks are available for you bikers, too.

As soon as we walked up the entry steps, we saw the Wai Kai Wave. It looked like so much fun! We plan to come back next weekend to try it out! The confirmation email I received stated that check in would be at The Launch. I found it next to Sessions which is their retail store. Lots of cute things in there!

During the check in, they checked to make sure we did our waivers prior to arrival which we did. They gave us our wristbands which has an RFID chip inside of it. This gave us access to the waterfront. The kind agent pointed us in the waterfront direction.

Once we got to the dock, we were able to leave our personal belongings in cubby holes. We received a safety briefing from the team about our life vests and how to operate them. Once that was complete, we were able to jump on a watercraft and have fun. We had a blast!

After our fun on the water, we headed upstairs to The LookOut for some pupus and drinks. The nachos are big enough to feed 4 people, trust me! We also ordered the poke and that was good, too! Their Saracco Moscato D'Asti wine was ono!

We loved everything about our time out here! It's easy to say we'll be back!

Extraordinary! So much more than I expected. The facility is remarkable - surfing right in front of the audience. Amazing surfer displays, great dancers and performers. Worth the drive.

Saying this lū'au is "special" is an understatement. Went twice in three weeks. It's that good. Great for families, friends, or entertaining business clients.

Where else can you get world-class Polynesian dancing AND a front-row seat surfing exhibition? Food and bar are great local inspired fare. The facility itself is a striking brand new structure that is a surprising departure from typical lū'au venues; and the show utilizes the unique theater to the max, making this show a truly one-of-a-kind experience. It's intimate right now, so watch it soon and enjoy the ample parking and warm interactions with the performers before the inevitable inundation of tourists take over.

When the typical lū'au template tends to employ camp and exotica, the Wai Kai Show uses splendor and reverence. Locals, kanakas, and connoisseurs will notice that culture is celebrated more than put on display. This is not a revue of Oceanic cultures, it is a coherent inter-island story told with a lot of traditional dance and a few surprising cutting edge stagecraft elements that put this show on the same tier as Hā: Breathe of Life on the North Shore.

Dining is full table service. You won't have to line up at a buffet because the wait staff brings the food and drink to your table made to order. The Hawaiian inspired menu matched the level of the show and left us happily full. We enjoyed the innovative tacos, fresh seafood, and a few juicy ribeyes paired with okinawan sweet potatoes. This focus means that guests expecting a full spread of authentic Hawaiian may not find their poi (at the time of writing).

What makes this show stand apart aside from the aforementioned, is the fact that the venue has a world-class wave pool. Without giving away the exhilarating moments the show surprises you with, I can say that the entire layout of the venue is integrated into the show. Sometimes the performers use dance to tell this oceanic story, and other times they are showing that they are actual watermen (and women), doing real things in the water as part of the performance.

We brought international clients for our first visit and enjoyed it so much that we came back with the entire household.

I will be telling all my visiting friends that this is the show to put on their itinerary until someone else can top it, if that's even possible. Māuruuru!
