Great hike with a fantastic view!

Sunny day in Hawaii, couldn't have been a better day. Hike had a few steep sections, not too bad. Had a great time.

This hike rewards you with an absolutely beautiful view, and it is pretty easy to find. However, the information I read stated it was a super easy hike. I have to admit, I wasn't wearing the right shoes, but some parts are actually very steep. I saw 2 people fall on their butts going back down. Fortunately, I managed not... More

So many foolish people wearing flip flops. This was one of the steepest hikes we did. Our mother opted out at the first rest point/look out. We continued up the hike. It is not paved, would be very slippery when wet. There are a number of visitors. The views are nice but people seem to come to take photos on... More

Lived in view of them for 30+ years, kids went up almost weekly, Son almost got married there - great experience, right in our backyard! BUT NOW - over-run, vandalized, trashed, graffiti-ed, urinated/defecated on - no longer a thrill, Now just a hazard to clumsy "visitors' & a nuisance to trespassed-upon neighbors. Visits should be seriously discouraged, not promoted on... More

As 8, 9, 10 year olds we climbed up to the pill box cliff and were in awe of the view of the MC Base straight down below us. Thrilling. And we never got tired of the climb, even that young... And NO graffiti either. In the 60's there was wild boar on the way up the hill in the... More

As other people have mentioned it's not a long hike but it is tricky in places where your practically climbing up in places so is something to consider. The shorter route from Lanikai beach is probably the easier of the 2. I did do the full route which is more difficult although some people more or less were running up.... More

This was quite the experience. We went on Saturday and finding parking a challenge, as a nearby beach too. Best to go on weekday maybe. No restrooms either. It is pretty difficult and a bit slick at times. I am 60 and husband 62 and he was pretty dizzy by the time he got up there. You need to be... More

I agree with the existing reviews. I would add that visitors to Hawaii should not underestimate how carefully we need to adjust to the heat and humidity. Also, the hike is completely exposed to baking sun. There are no bathrooms or fountains. While it looks like public domain it apparently is private property and cheek by jowl to homes. Website... Street parking only so get there early. The hike starts steep and because of heavy foot traffic some spots are slick. The hike is relatively short, and there are two pillboxes to access. The second gives such an amazing view I try to take all my guests here.
