Considered one of the toughest courses in the nation, and named one of the top three golf clubs in Hawaii by Golf Digest, this magnificent golf course was carved out of a rain forest on the windward side of the 2,000-foot Ko'olau mountain range.

This course is the most challenging the Mrs and I have ever played. Well worth purchasing the course guide. Lots of helpful employees from the clubhouse to Royce who helped us with our clubs at the end of the day. Lots are great views. Bring lots of golf balls. The course will eat a good deal of them. Would be... More

Set beneath the majestic Koolau Mountain range, this course test a golfers ability to conquer the towering overgrowth, ravines, gulches, hills, and sand and water hazards. The deep crevices of these towering cliffs, created by the rain, is a testimony of the many waterfalls that can be seen when these peaks capture mother natures clouds and she releases her tears.... Great course but muddy and slippery as all heck when it rains. Cart path only doesn't help. Great place but dress properly.

Worse course I've ever played. Little grass in the fairways and greens. Putting was impossible. The ball rolled like Fred Flintstone putting with a rock. I can appreciate the rain in the area but when the course has little grass it was like playing in a mud pit. Weeds were so thick in the rough that any ball that was... More

If you are a golfer that belongs to a country club and expect a level of course conditions do not play this course. Yes the views of the rain forest are nice but I'm there to play golf. The fairways are weeds and mud, the rough is like the fairways and the greens are terrible. They charged me $152.00 to... More

A must play any time in Hawaii. The front 9 reminds me of a Jurassic Park movie... The only reason it's not a 5 star is because the back 9 had been flooded & was in really bad shape. In that bad of condition, people shouldn't play the back- but the front 9 twice. Scenic views with plush Forrest. Pretty... More

The Koolau Golf course is aganist the amazing Koolau Mountains. They are majestic & incredibly green! I can't think of a more beautiful view! They rent the building out for Confrences & parties. We had our grandsons One Year Baby Luau there. You have the option of them supplying the food or you can bring in your own. Nice venue... More

This course is a BEAST. The staff kept apologizing to me for the condition of the course - they'd received 10 inches of rain in the past 2 weeks. The course was slushy in some places, but the only balls I lost were ones I hit decidedly out of bounds - of which there is A LOT. I can definitely... More

Pros: Good price as far as Hawaii goes, amenities, friendly staff, fewer players than a Honolulu course, and scenery. Cons: The course maintenance has been lacking. The jungle has taken over in some areas on four holes on the back nine. Number 15, if I recall correctly, fairway is covered in this slush, muddy jungle soup. We lost three balls... More

The epitome of Hawaii golf.. deep in the rain forest. Course was muddy due to overnight downpour. Cart path only. Teed off at 7am, very few people playing today, so all by myself. Took advantage of $25 replay, because I like to torture myself. Had a blast. Played 36 in under 5 hours. I make it a point to play... More
