Off season visit.
Apr. 2021 • Solo
This is a amazing place with Acadia National Park being the main attraction on the island. This is a great place for an active vacation - hiking, kayaking, sailing, etc. I spent time in the off season so a lot of places are closed but the bonus is no long waits for tables at restaurants that are open. The trails are not over crowded and traffic over all is light.

Cold, icy, and perfect for those of us who want to be alone in the wild woods. Please use caution during your sping adventures and be prepared for ice.

Beautiful place. We were hampered by fog but the areas we could glimps we very different from the west coast. It was clear that the rocks were left when glaciers receded. So much beauty. The colors were just starting to change and they were brilliant when the sun hit them. Still fresh in my memory.

Beautiful drive

We drove all around the island including Cadillac Mountain, The Sand Beach, and Thunder Hole. It was hard to park because of the crowds.

Are dogs allowed?

The area is very dog friendly. There will be a few places that don't allow pets inside, but overall the area is very dog friendly. I saw dogs on the decks of restaurants, walking in the park, and on hiking trails. There will be some trails in Acadia that wouldn't be good for pets because of the rocks.

Depends on amount you want to be outdoors/amount you want to spend. Personally: Drive the Park Loop Road ... take a day (stop for views/short walks/see Sand Beach). Drive up Cadillac Mountain. Day 2: rent bikes and enjoy them on the Carriage Trails/dinner in Bar Harbor. Day 3: hike a small peak like Acadia or a bigger one on the east side. Walk up Beehive if you like views and are not afraid of heights. See the lighthouse. Dinner on the quiet side.

Drive the park loop road. Rent bikes if you aren't bringing your own and bike the carriage roads, or take a horse drawn carriage ride on them. Visit Northeast an Southwest Harbors. Eat lunch at eat a pita in SW Harbor, delicious. Walk the shore path in downtown Bar Harbor. Play Mini golf at Pirates Cove. So much to do. Most of all, just relax and enjoy. No place like it on earth!

Different answers for different parts of the park. Just obey the posted signs and you shouldn't have a problem.

Thinking of traveling to Acadia in early June. What's the best way to see the park ? We are in our late 60's but like short walks. Also what's the weather like in June? How much time should be allow for the park? Can you drive the loop or do you need to take the bus?
