The ocean was flat as glass but the waves at Schoodic Point still put on a show. Don't miss this part of Acadia NP.

Take the time to drive to this separate part of Acadia National Park. Not many tourists do so it is less crowded and well worth the effort to climb on the beautiful rocks at the point.

We enjoyed the austere beauty of the Maine coastline without crowds or parking hassles. The dramatic surf and granite coastline are stunning.

We have visited Acadia several times, but never made the trip to the Schoodic. The views are wonderful and there is little people pressure. The trip (approx. 1/2 hour) from Bar Harbor is worth it. Plenty of places to picnic or just sit back and...More

Schoodic Peninsula is not on Mount Desert Island (which is where the rest of Acadia National Park is located), but it is THE rockbound Maine coast for spectacular granite ledges and ocean views.

Visit, visit, visit! It's on the mainland west of Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth. Maybe 45 minutes away. So utterly beautiful that you will be dazzled. The tourists are mobbed in Bar Harbor; the lovers of nature are here.

I love the Schoodic side of Acadia National Park. I take a book and a chair and sit on the rocks. The Island Explorer Bus service to this area is new since our last visit.
