We spent a week in Bar Harbor at the beginning of October and walked many of the longer, challenging trails in Acadia. Going across the sandbar to Bar Island at low tide was interesting and made for a nice afternoon activity. Of course, you have...More

It was awesome going there, great experience. There's a little abandoned house there too, looks like it's been there for about 100 to 200 years.

A beautiful walk from town across the sand bar at low tide. The light at sunset is spectacular. There is an easy hike up the mountain with nice views of the town.

This is a cool spot to go hang on a hot summer day. The views are wonderful, the water cold, and the breezes are 10-15 degrees cooler than they are on Maine Street. Get there 1.5 hrs before low tied and get back on shore...More

Twice a day at low tide a rocky causeway is revealed to Bar Island. Many small pools are left behind that are interesting to explore. Watch for gulls dropping and smashing stranded crabs on the rocks. The hike to the summit of Bar Island is...More

Seeing this trail emerge from the ocean is something so unique to Bar Harbor. It is so cool that part of the day it is underwater, and part of the day it isnt. They trail is full of seashells, but can get a little slippery...More
