Make sure to do the audio tour of the cell house and watch the short video in the theater. You can spend all day out there! Go early and come back when you're ready.

Interesting visit to Alcatraz. Also did the visit to Angel Island. Well worth it on a clear day for panoramic views of SF, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz.

My assumption would be yes, but not a large one. I honestly would call the parks service to double check. There are strict guidelines on how large of a backpack one can bring. I'm sure there are guidelines for chairs as well. More
