Just went for the ice cream and a good excuse to walk a little
When we visit SF, we try to come here for ice cream, usually a hot fudge sundae, which we shared this time. At an outrageous $15, it was a true guilty pleasure, but we enjoyed, so what the hell. We walked to the park ( National Park, no less, well less, actually ) across the street so we could look out on the water while we indulged. By the way, it's the excellent fudge that makes this truly worthwhile, although they were a bit stingy on it, this time. If we had more time, I would like to have explored the complex, it was already dark and we had a long walk back to our hotel. The funny thing, I don't think we ever did step into the complex in our visits there. What a waste.

Shopping Area That's Not All Chocolate
Outdoor shopping area (stores are indoors) featuring some unique merchandise here and there. There are multiple Ghirardelli locations, we found the one on the lower level facing Beach Street to have a minimal line. Nice for a quick stop, but not necessarily a place you'll find yourself for a while.

    A Sweet Experience
Chocolate, Chocolate, and more CHOCOLATE! Fulfill your cocoa dreams here in this square filled with local shops and cafes geared towards tourists. We stopped in for a free chocolate sample before splurging in the gift shop on chocolate bars, brownie mixes, and hot cocoas. Definitely make sure to stop by to satisfy your chocolate fix!

    Worth the visit
A wonderful tourist experience. Definitely in the hun of a tourist trap but worth the experience. The Ice cream was divine and chocolate aplenty of course. A hot fudge sundae was $16 for one scoop of ice cream. Souvenirs were minimal.

    Love Ghirardelli!
The views were amazing, felt like the safest place down by the wharf, we spend our entire weekend there. Brunch at The Palette Teahouse, pricey but amazing. Happy hour and two dinners at Mccormicks, also fantastic, they cater to birthdays nicely too., Beers at San Fran Brewery. Some chocolate of course. It saved our trip since the rest of the wharf was very run down. Lots of restaurants closed.

Bought dessert and chocolate at Ghirardelli Square chocolate store
During our trip to San Francisco not long ago, we bought some chocolate and also had a dessert too. The dessert was so good, sweet and delicious. The chocolate was also good too with lovely packaging. Staff were helpful in helping me choose my dessert. Definitely recommend coming here when you visit San Francisco.

This is a plesant upscale shopping area with restaurants and arcades. Parking is conveniently located in the adjoining parking garage. The waterfront area is just across the street from the square.

We had a walk through here and saw cheerleaders doing a routine. The chocolate shops were not great.

Visited this place on the 14th of May 2023 while I was in San Francisco. Ghirardelli Square, considered the first successful adaptive reuse project in the country, has a history that spans more than a century and covers three continents. This specialty retail and dining complex, housing shops and restaurants, was originally a chocolate factory established by Domenico “Domingo” Ghirardelli.Well, that was the history of this place. One can experience the Chiradelli Chocolate Experience here and these ice creams are famous since 1864 ! An awesome experience !

A visit to San Francisco is never complete without dropping by Ghirardelli Square. Apart from the chocolates, they have the best chocolate sundae yet! Always worth every visit!

Overpriced crappy $15 "sundaeas".
Many, many vendors trying to take your money for "world famous SF product", we tried all, they were all disappointing, save you money.

Super clean, high end, delicious chocolate. We got the classic hot fudge sundae and loved it. Nice restrooms and other restaurants nearby.
