A wonderful man-made lake in Golden Gate Park. An ideal spot for simple meditation, picnicking, or a stroll. Either pass through on your way across the park, or stop a while, walk the trail, cross the foot bridges, and stop at the pavilion and waterfall. There's nearby parking and row and paddle boats are for hire. but most visitors and... More

My husband and I went over to Stow lake and hired a paddle boat for an hour and we made our way slowly around the lake. From the arched bridges to paddle under and the abundant wild life, to the picturesque setting of the water fall. There were a lot of photo's to be had. A lovely day out to... More

This is a peaceful place especially in the morning and at night. Lots of people visit here and good for bikes.

It's nice, but's it's really not a lake per se. It is a ring of water around Strawberry Hill. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't expect to do any waterskiing or other similar things on this "lake." :-)

Peaceful place at the beautiful Golden Gate Park, where you can do hiking among tall trees or have a boat ride around the lake. Those hungry after the pedalling or rowing can have refreshments at the Boathouse. They have (a bit) more than the normal fried food, and prices are not exorbitant for a tourist joint.

My husband and I rented a pedal boat there after our visit to the Japanese Tea Garden. It was about $29 or $30 (I believe) for an hour. It was so relaxing and easy to pedal around at our leisure. We saw ducks, turtles, and herons. It's a nice area and decent sized lake. There's a waterfall next to one... More

My husband and I stopped by Golden Gate Park for a few hours of quiet before flying out of San Fran. I've always wanted to rent a pedal boat on the lake there, and we finally did this go around. It's a little pricey by the hour, but lots of fun, and you have enough time to make the full... More

Stumbled on Stow Lake while wandering around Golden Gate Park. Plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view and the antics of the many birds or watch the turtles sunbathing. The path is well-kept around the perimeter. There are two bridges to the island, where there are walking trails. I spent the most pleasant couple hours here, walking, reading,... More

This is a very beautiful man-made lake. We randomly walked to this lake after visiting the Japanese Tea Gardens and I am glad we did. The lake has fabulous views and also has a waterfall. The foggy weather is like a cherry on the topping. It gets really cold so layering is highly recommended. Renting a boat from the boathouse... More

If you want to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life for a couple of hours, you should come here. I've always love this place. I use to walk and bike here and on Strawberry Hill (the island in the middle of Stow Lake). We rent a pedal boat this time and went around the lake... More
