Wasn't planning on visiting this park as it just opened up for us to see when we turn the corner. Great lawn area to relax and seating as well. Good place to sit and just watch everybody doing there thing. If you're doing a lot of walking downtown this is a good place to take a break.

Just blocks from the SF Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA), next to the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and out the back door of the Marriott Marquis, are the Yerba Buena Gardens. These gardens offer a nice place to relax and soak in the greenery amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Grab takeout from one of the local restaurants/street... More

It's kind of nice on a sunny day, but a lot of homeless dudes hang out there and one can be overwhelmed by the scent of old pee wafting past they nostrils.

Nothing stands out but an urban open space with terrace and fountain for locals to hang out. The buildings sorounding the garden are gorgeous. Some photo shooting angles exist.

Coming from New Hampshire, it was great to get some sun in December. Sit on the benches just above MLK memorial and listen to the waterfall or relax on the lawn with a view of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Nice change of pace for some coffee or tea on a Saturday afternoon.

Nice park even on a rainy day. It's not huge, but good for a short break from the grey and concrete of the city.

Visiting at black friday evening, this park is quite busy with pedestrians and shoppers after weariness of walking for the best deals in shopping districts. It' quite safe and well lit with enough benches to sit relaxed while seeing the surrounding traffic.

Great place to hang around especially with a kid. He can roam around and play with other kids. Fresh and nice views too.

Although you might think by the name that this is some sort of botanical garden, it is really a city park (although, of course, like most other city parks it does have its fair share of flowers, trees and other plants). It is located right behind the Moscone Convention Center South and across from the San Francisco Museum of Modern... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
