Wonderful climb (~600 steps) through the Filbert Street Steps neighborhood - beautiful gardens and interesting homes line the route to the top. Start on Sansome Street (at the base of Filbert Street). There's free 2-hour parking on street that was still available at 9:00 AM...More

Walked to the Coit Tower and decided the queues were too long for what appeared to be mediocre views over SF. Stumbled upon Telegraph Hill which gave such AMAZING views over SF. Let the photos speak for the views! If not for having not much...More

Telegraph Hill is in the area by the Embarcadero, North Beach and Russian Hill, but also close to Fisherman's Wharf. It's a mix of residential, light commercial with cool bars, restaurants, coffee houses and shops. Mostly it's Coit Tower that draw the tourists, but there...More

My title says it all. I used to live here and always enjoy these views. Parking can be a problem during the summer tourist season.

If you are from a Midwest town and you are used to flat lands and rolling hills, then try taking a drive down Lombard Street. Driving on a steep hill will take on a whole new meaning.

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.
