Historically known for where the richest men in San Fransisco built their mansions and where the most prestigious hotels in San Fransisco are situated, Nob Hill is well worth a look. Especially as Grace Cathedral is also situated here and you can get there easily...More

I travelled with teenagers. Rented an apartment through HomeAway. Safe, clean, quiet. Beautiful views. Walking distance to ChinaTown and Union Square. Cable Car ride to Ferry Building, Pier 39/33/Ghiradelli Square, and South of Market. Good local restaurants and small markets.

This is an interesting neighborhood to walk around and look at the architecture, but you should prepare for some hills/inclines. Take the cable car if you can; when we were there it was so over crowded we wound up mostly walking. A highlight is the...More

Per its name, this neighborhood sits atop a hill that is very high. If you are in shape then walk-up the steep incline; for a bit of nostalgia then take a cable car. Regardless of your mode of transportation, a visit to the ‘top’ of...More

The very steep hills of the Nob Hill area were beckoning from O'Farrell Street! I definitely had to walk there to experience the steep hills and streets that San Francisco is known for! After a brief (but definitely not easy) walk from my hotel, I...More

One of the highest peaks of San Francisco, home to big luxury hotels, Grace Cathedral, the Masonic, and some splendid architecture, and now a statue of Tony Bennett! Nice park as well. Cable cars climb here. Worth a visit.

We walked up to the Nob Hill area from our hotel which was The Donatello (near Union Square) to have some drinks at the lovely Top of the Mark Skybar with fantastic 360 degree views of San Francisco. It was quite a steep and tiresome...More

This is very much like a miniature version of Notre Dame in Paris. The architectural design is beautiful and unique.

We passed almost daily though here, either by Hop on bus or driving, and although very hilly and upsetting my stomach I would say it was well worth it in understanding SF. This is surely the epicentre of SF, or where from everything grew as...More

You can drive this way. or you can walk around it will be very tiring because of climbs. San Francisco is full of climbing up and down so be prepared.

Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the
city and is home to amazing architecture and views.
The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for
those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be
rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful
architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated
with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all
were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that
