The world’s only aquarium-planetarium-rainforest-living museum. Come nose-to-beak with penguins and parrots, watch sharks and sting rays cruise beneath your feet, and feel the spray of the California coast. Fly to Mars (and beyond the Milky Way!) from the safety of your planetarium seat, take a virtual safari in African Hall, or climb into the canopy of a living rainforest. Face your fears—and an albino alligator—inside the Swamp, and meet scientists as they return from research expeditions around the world. From the depths of a Philippine coral reef to the outer reaches of the Universe, it's all inside the California Academy of Sciences.

What an amazing place. How much love, thought and planning went into creating it. So many different things to see and to enjoy. And the cafeteria pretty cool as well. My favorite was the roof, butterfly garden, all the sea creature areas and albino alligator

I really like this place. I go at least once a year and take guests there regularly. Don't miss this adventure if your in town. It won't disappoint. Especially the butterflies and bird exhibit.

Although we only covered half of the museum within a couple of hours, I thought the aquarium alone was worth a visit. Lots of interesting fish and marine life. I would skip the rainforest as you will not see many interesting things there.

Love the food here, the best food I've ever eaten in a museum cafe. Many homemade dishes, comfort food, etc. Great kids selections as well.

Thought it was actually going to be a planetarium. Little disappointed that it was about the earth. The rain forest exhibit is good, but not worth the entrance fee. The cafe is overpriced.

We went to look at the architecture of this building and would have liked to go in but we thought it was way too expensive

I had a Citypass for this attraction and I found it was a great way to kill an afternoon. I've never been to such a unique science museum. My favorite part was the aquarium, because you'd totally miss it if you weren't looking. I love hidden gems like that.

What a wonderful place to bring the kids for an aquarium visit. There are plenty of things for the adults to see as well. It's a bit crowded, and the admission cost is a bit dear, but it's well worth it. As far as family-friendly amusements in San Francisco, this one is top notch!

We went on a Friday and the place was packed with kids screaming! I think this would of been better on a weekend maybe. The rainforest was little smaller than I thought, but neat. I like how afterwards it immediately takes you down to the aquarium! The Scuba diver was there and was educating about the tank. Over all we... More

A must go for couples or for families. Lot of interesting exhibits that keep getting renewed on a regular bases. For couples over 21, Thursday Nights is NiteLIfe. ITs a very unique way of exploring the academy with live music, DJ's booths and wine bars.
