At the edge of the Pacific, beachcomb, build sand castles or bonfires, but don't swim. The tumultuous waters can be too rough to handle.

Tony Bennet sang about this beautiful city and the wonders it provides to visitors. This excessively long sand-way kisses the Pacific Ocean while locals stroll avoiding the last remnant of the approaching salt water waves. Grab your warm jacket, walk with the natives and see...More

Right at the end of the N Judah Line, the beach is a nice break from city life. The beach is very wide and very long so it is possible to stroll and find areas of peace and the sound of the waves. Best visited...More

Enjoyed a walk along Ocean Beach, just below the Cliff House. Climbed on the rocks to see the old Sutro Baths, which have become a duck pond. Watched surfers while we walked. I'd give the visit a higher rating but the water is too, too...More

This beach is only nice on a sunny day. Otherwise, it is cold and barren looking. The misty fog and wind can give you a headache on a cold day. You also have to cross a busy highway from the running/cycling path to get to...More

I was surprise that in a city like San Francisco you can have a sense of a urban environment, as well as the sense of a pristine natural environment like the one at Ocean Beach. The place is well known among surfers, but you can...More

This was a really clean beach with fire pits and beautiful views. You can walk from the San Francisco Zoo all the way to Sutro Baths.

Yes you can! We were at one part of ocean beach where they didn't have bonfires but we went down a little bit more to another parking lot and they did have bonfires. And they are a blast!
