We have been thrilling audiences in San Francisco since 1923. We are known for commissioning numerous world premieres, training some of opera's greatest young artists and being one of the world's leading opera companies. Come visit us during our fall season (September - early December) or our summer season (late May - early July) and enjoy an incredible night out.

We have been enjoying the opera for 5 years now. We love the productions that we have seen so far for the 13-14 season. Our only complaint is that at these prices,I do not want to see new productions or modern interpretations of beloved classics...More

The War Memorial Opera House is a historic and scenic building. Food buffet is available before the performance. Theatre seats have very little leg room. If the program and cast is good, one can be distracted but more often than not of late, this is...More

A good night at the Opera. Beautifully Opera house. Outstanding performance of this Verdi opera. The lead was very good. And people watching at the memorial opera house is always a spectacle on its own

As an opera lover, I've been to the SF Opera many times over the years when visiting San Francisco. I've seen some truly fantastic productions with stellar vocalists. Recently we went to see the celebrated production of "Mefistofele" and the premiere of a new opera,...More

We've seen many operas. This is the first one where upon leaving the theater we said,"We could go right back in and see that opera all over again."

The only downside to our opera is the relatively short season. It's world-class, with great singers and, especially, a wonderful orchestra and chorus. I've been subscribing for 40 years.

Fortunate to attend a meeting early in September once again to attend opening night at the SF Opera. Enjoyed dinner in the Café at the Opera before. The usual ambience of high society in SF was again present and many 'entertaining' attendees! The opera production...More

If you get a chance to see an opera at San Francisco's Opera House, go. Don't think about the price. If you can get tickets, the building itself is amazing, and the SF opera company is among the best. If anything, just go for the...More

Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things
government and performance-related in the city.
Although its streets are best walked during daytime,
numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to
one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz
center offer year round entertainment within the
shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold
tipped dome of City Hall.
