I didn't walk around a lot as of course like a lot of others I mainly wanted to take photographs of the bridge but if you are a history buff or are just very interested in this more than the bridge I'd recommend it, but...More

Plenty of parking just in front of the building, interesting history and amazing views of Alcatraz, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Not a must, but well worth a visit.

Wear jackets, hats & gloves for this very windy site. If the tide is right you'll see surfers. The fort is a well preserved step back in time and the volunteers are most friendly & helpful. Bring a hot beverage and enjoy the great photo...More

Arrived just before a tour began. The tour was provided by a very knowledgeable gentleman volunteering at this site. Learn about the mostly uneventful yet fascinating history of this old fort. Get some great pictures of the Golden Gate bridge from the top of the...More

We had a nice view under the bridge. You can drive all the way down. There is a parking lot so you can get out and look and take some pictures from underneath the bridge.

Visited San Francisco and decided to stop by this site on our last day. It's located right under the golden gate Bridge so you get to see a pretty unique view. You have the freedom to roam throughout the fort including up to the rooftop...More

We lucked out to visit on a weekend when re-enactors were at the fort. Seeing the soldiers in their uniforms and performing their drills made the fort come alive. The views alone from the fort are worth the time and effort to get to it....More

You can’t beat the locale and the views of the bridge, bay and part of the city. I had no idea that the USA civil war had tentacles here to protect the gold and commerce from the confederates. Really neat.

You can catch great views of the Bridge from this spot, as well as shots of sports persons sailing or paddleboarding in the waves. Unfortunately, the Fort itself is only open Fri-Sun, so if you're in SF on the other days you miss out.

First thing, even in summer, be prepared for wind and cold here. Fort Point is a solid brick structure that was constructed during the Civil War. There is limited parking , a bookstore, tours available.

About an hour. The weather will determine your length of stay. If there is a cold, biting wind you will want to wrap it up as the Fort is in the windiest spot.

I did. Be aware, of course, that you have to climb from sea level up to bridge deck level. It is all on good paved trails, however, and needless to say, remarkably scenic. So if you are in decent physical shape, no... More

We parked at the Presidio and walked the 1 1/4 miles to the fort, parking was $8 anywhere there , reasonable for SF. I'm 67 and I had no problems, gental walk.
