The dome of this venerable Government building is a replica of the one crowning St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

Because which ever one I choose - spectacular, magnificent, opulent, beautiful will not do this building justice. Out for my morning stroll on a day off. Just wandering around the city with no particular destination in mind. Stroll up Market Street, stumble across a Farmer's...More

As Mondays most museums were closed, we were happy to walk into a free tour of the SF City Hall. The guide was very knowledgeable and we were only two on the tour... Worth every moment, first time we walked into a mayor's office

City Hall is the seat of government for San Francisco. You can attend the Board meetings and get married here. The marble architecture is gorgeous and classical. The structure's dome is taller than that of the United States Capitol by 42 feet. There is a...More

Decided to visit before going to the Opera next door, glad I did. Stunning, grand architecture, very well maintained, friendly guards, breathtaking really. At night it's lit up and looks stunning.

The City Hall is one of the architectural gems of the City and is well worth the visit. The beautiful staircase leads to the rotunda where many weddings are performed.

There is no other city hall in the entire US quite like this one. The interior dome is even more impressive than the one at the US Capitol. One can simply walk in free or charge (through security, of course), but I also recommend making...More

Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things
government and performance-related in the city.
Although its streets are best walked during daytime,
numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to
one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz
center offer year round entertainment within the
shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold
tipped dome of City Hall.

Hi, I am from Singapore and am researching on getting married in San Francisco City Hall this year. I understand from the SF County website that there are two appointments to be made 90 days in advance - first being the marriage license, and the latter being the civil ceremony. I am planning for a 2-weeks vacation in SF as this is the maximum number of days that I can get away from work. This is an important milestone in both my boyfriend's and my lives and we are a little disappointed that we are only able to obtain copies of the marriage certificate 2 to 4 weeks after the request. Is there any opportunities that we can get the marriage certificate before we leave the city? Also, I read that we will need to get the certified original "apostilled". Is it necessary to get this? Please advise. Liz
