If there's one building you will recognize from a plane it's the Pyramid. Since 1972 it gave shape to the skyline of SF. The architecture of this building remains for me very distinctive from a lot of newer skyscrapers!

Although this is an iconic building on the San Francisco skyline, unfortunately visitors are not allowed up the building. Too bad the observation deck on the 27th floor was closed in 2001. Unfortunately this building is not worth visiting; there are much better sights for tourists.

This is the building that we associate with San Francisco, beyond the Golden Gate, this is probably the most iconic structure. It is indeed marvelous architecture, worth looking at from its different angles and a can't miss if you are strolling the FiDi (Financial District).

I was really impressed with the architecture. You can use this as a reference point if you ever get lost because it's unmistakable with any other buildings in the area.

I found that this building was at it loveliest in the evening when looking down from the area heading towards Coit Tower. As others have said here, New York has its Empire State Building, San Francisco has the Pyramid which is a great orientation tool for touring the city.

What's the Empire State for NY, that's the Pyramid for SF. Modern high rise that's easily distinguished on SF panorama. Fabulous building, easily seen from everywhere and orientation point.

The San Francisco skyline has some pretty impressive buildings, but this one really stands out, day and night. Not really an activity, just part of a stunning cityscape.

To many San Francisco represents a wonderful city with quality older buildings; this is an amazing structure than can be seen from everywhere and shows a newer style of architecture

Pretty on the outside but unremarkable on the inside like most supermodels. My woman used to work up in there.

One of the most iconic buildings in the country. You can spot it in most places around San Francisco.

Staying in Financial District

Neighbourhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
