This is a very nice pier. I do a lot of traveling, and we see a lot of piers. This pier was well lit with light posts and no shortage of benches to sit and enjoy. I would tell you to dress warmly as the...More

Nice Wharf is especially for photography lovers, with good views of the harbor, downtown, the skyline and the Bay Bridge. It is a very strategic point for good shots and a nice walk.

This is a nice pedestrian walking pier that gives a good view of the eastern waterfront. Probably one of the nicest piers for pedestrians on the eastern waterfront (pier 14 is good too).

Pier 7 is just that - a long, wide pier. But, there is a hidden, understated flare to it. With benches on each side and street lights dotting it all the way to the end, it can be very romantic for a stroll, especially in...More

It's your basic pier. You can look at the water or throw things in the bay or dive in if you feeling coltish.

Pier 7 is a simple finger pier but it provides some beautiful views of the back, especially at night.

A walk along the pier is a lovely way to see the city and the bay. It is very peaceful and has benches to sit and rest after a day of walking.

Pier 7 is THE place that provides a obstacle-free view towards the harbour front and the bridge. It is not as crowded as Ferry Building. I would recommend that instead of eating at Ferry Building, to-go and eat it here. If the weather permits, sit...More

This pier seems to be mostly used by fishermen. Tourists come and go but it's pretty peaceful to just sit on a bench and enjoy the ocean and the birds.

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

That sounds lovely (and I'd love to be there), but it may not be possible. Final decision is with the port authority: 415-274-0400.
