5 of us rented bikes for the Sausalito ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. This is not for the faint of heart but we had 2 - 64 year old that made it. Ended in Sausalito at the best little downtown we've seen in CA. Quaint and restful. Stopped at the Barrel House for convenience to the Ferry ride back... More

Bay City Bike offered reasonably priced electric bike rentals in SF. (Having already taken a Electric bike SF tour with another company, I wanted to hire an electric bike to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge, then to Sausalito and Tiburon, etc...) I booked the hire online which saved me 10%. The online booking was a smooth process. Only complaint... More

The bike rental process was seamless however the individual who served us had a very unwelcoming attitude which was not needed. He had an attitude when providing us guidance of the route and felt like he was talking down to us which as tourists was not needed. Overall, i would not recommend the bike rental service but the cycle itself... More

Hello, I’m sorry to hear about that. We aim to provide everyone with efficient, dedicated, and most of all respectful service. I apologize that in your case, we fell short. We would never tolerate our staff treating anyone with condensation. I appreciate your feedback. I assure you that we will address these concerns. I would like to invite you back... More

Although I didn't signed up for a guided tour (I did the Golden Gate Bridge and Streets of SFO by my own) the staff was very pleasent and polite. If you are not into doing guided tours, ask them for a help with the map/directions and you will be fine. Price is affordable, almost no diference compared to other bike... More

Spent an amazing day cycling around San Francisco, over the GG Bridge, through GG park and the city.

Wow, sounds like a great ride! Crossing the Golden Gate Bridge on a bike is a must see, but the Golden Gate Park is also not to be missed! The city as well has lots of hidden gems. We love to tell people about parts of the city that most people miss. Thanks for the review! -Sam More

Great bikes. Good instruction, but a few local tips on the ride over the bridge would have helped. The bridge posted a sign saying no bikes from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, but apparently, that's not the case. We rushed to ride back over the bridge to get back by 3:30pm, but would have stayed longer in Sausalito had we known that... More

Thanks for the review. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your ride. Sorry about the confusion while crossing the bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is always open to cyclists, but on weekends and weekdays after 3:30pm they open a separate sidewalk just for bikes. These are popular times for pedestrians, so the sidewalk would become too congested otherwise. It's... More

Great bikes, easy to rent and return! Many options to choose from. Bike path to the Golden Gate Bridge a little confusing from Fisherman's Warf, but not a hard ride.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the bike I was given was in relatively poor condition. My greatest concern is that it became dark during my rental period, and the bike I was given had no front or rear lights, and no front reflector. This made me very nervous about not being seen by cars, pedestrians, and other... More

I'm sorry to hear you had issues with your bike. We always give our customers a chance to test ride bikes. We would have happily made adjustments or replaced the bike before you had gone too far. If you only noticed the issue further way, we have a dedicated staff of drivers who can assist riders who are in distress.... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
