Won best theater company in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2008. They do really unique improvised theater productions, like improvised musicals and improvised Shakespeare shows, and have been a San Francisco staple since 2003.

I am always amazed at the ability of this troupe to perform long form improvisation. They take a theme, often add some at the moment contributions from the audience at the beginning and then produce a two act play with several scenes on the spot before the audience's very eyes. To improv for a short time is entertaining, to do... More

If you like fast, witty improv comedy then this is the place to go. Performed in an intimate little theatre this company put on a great show. My girlfriend and I went to see "Beloved Strangers" and we then stayed to see "Dash", two great improv shows with audience interaction. Complimentary popcorn upon entering the theatre and freshly baked cookies... More

We usually go to BATS Improv, but we went to see their Foglandia show since we love Portlandia. It was so good that we went back to see another show. Of course it was completely different because it's real improv. Brilliant wit, dramatic depth and great acting were abundant in the full-length plays they made up on the spot. (The... More

We saw Foglandia last night - it was amazing! Who are these actors with such creative and nimble brains??? Not only do they make the story up as they go along, they create scene appropriate songs too. If I didn't know better, I would say they had to have planned at least SOME of it in advance - but the... I've been a serious improv attendee for 15 years, mostly in Boston and San Francisco, some in New York and Chicago. There's improv and then there's improv. Most of what you've seen before is short comedy sketches. What Un-Scripted does is the improvisation of a full play (can be serious, can be humorous, or both) or a full musical, and... More

This current run is called Act One, Scene Two...a local playwright writes the first act and they cold read it and then the actors improv the rest of the story...great concept and fun night. Now at the Phoenix Theater on Mason...go! A fun night and improv is always great, even when it isn't!

Great show! Totally unscripted and inspired! The audience gets to chose the world, and poof - the cast creates the show! A great night out in the City, right near Union Square! And such a deal at $20! Go - now!

Improv doesn't have to be a cross between sketch comedy and stand-up comedy, improv can also be theater. Improvised theater is what the Un-Scripted Theater Company specializes in. They do improvised musicals, plays, comedies, dramas, Shakespeare shows, even an improvised movie show where the audience is watching a movie screen while actors were outside filming the movie they were watching!...
