Afternoons are the best time of day to stroll down both sides of Haight Street bet. Schrader St. & just after Masonic St. While you'll find lots of coffee shops, cafe's, brewpubs, boutiques and fun, quirky shops to pop in on this area is known...More

I loved the Haight area. It's filled with Summer of Love style second hand shops, interesting restaurants and tattoo parlors. The street corners and parks have all sorts of people living off the grid. Many have their pets with them and may be playing a...More

I lived just off the panhandle area a while ago. So, I wanted my daughter to experience "the Haight". The odd shops and interesting places to visit are great! While the kids were looking through books at Booksmith we ended up at a little Mexican...More

We were slightly disappointed with Haight Street and felt like we had to watch our backs the whole time. There were numerous homeless people lurking around and the guy who helped us in the shoe store was definitely on something. The one place I can...More

Have to admit that my review is colored by the fact that this is where I lived during the Summer of Love, and a few before and after. The place was rocking then, every day was colored by some outrageous/serendipitous happening, the streets were alive...More

Had to take the kids there for the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love. They are 11 and 13 and loved it!

The Hippies are gone, but the street people remain. Haight Street is the shopping street for what is now an upscale neighborhood with beautiful architecture. The mix on the street is eclectic with lots to see and entertain.

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
