Salt water taffy!

I bought a lot of salt water taffy here. They had a lot of different kinds of flavors. I would go here again! And i got some free caramel popcorn too!

I frequent Z Cioccolato any time I'm in the old North Beach area, mainly because it smells amazing in there and they have a hilarious (and also slightly irreverent) candy-related gift shelf. I've purchased many tasty gifts there over the years. I wanted to write a review for them this time because of a great experience I had with them... More

Stopped by here on a food tour. Really enjoyed speaking with Mike and him telling us about the different flavors and how they are made. Creamy and creative, stop by and have a sample!

We came acrossed this candy store while walking around and went in to take a peek. Walls and walls of candies, chocolates and fudge. Creatively decorated and smelled like heaven, but very tight and traffic flow was not user-friendly. After visiting, sampling and buying a few truffles for the road, we starting reading the rave reviews from here and was... More

Honestly guys, this place is the bomb. The fudge blew my mind, I felt like having had fudge from the south west of the UK, it couldn't be topped, but this place is epic. I don't know what kind of devils work they're using to create these little nuggets of crack, but you have to taste it for your self.... More

Lots of candy by the pound, especially salt water taffy: many flavors as well as oldie but goodies like jelly beans. I found the taffy colorful looking but unfortunately bland. The fudge....oh my goodness, more than a dozen different types. Plain chocolate was divine. On the day that we were there,Lots of flavors contained nuts so if that is an... More

We went in to try a few things it was buy two get one free. My sister got a HUGE turtle, I got a huge chocolate caramel square and we then got the chocolate peanut butter bark of the week. Loved the turtle and chocolate caramel square. The chocolate peanut butter bark was disappointing in that it was just peanut... More

We stopped here for a sample of fudge as a part of the City Clues Adventures scavenger hunts. They were so nice at the shop and the fudge was so delicious that we ended up purchasing quite a few different fudges to bring back to the hotel for that night's dessert. I also found some fun gifts to bring back... More

The folks working the store are also cool and laid back ! Their shelves had knick knacks like tin can lunch boxes, toys and... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
