When the bus taking us to the park drove thru the park (it appeared that way on Google Maps), I was wondering if the concierge had gotten it wrong. As we walked in towards the lake and botanical gardens, all doubts were erased. The walk in was very pretty with the flowers in bloom. I loved the fact that so... More

Golden Gate Park is beautiful, has lots of gardens, museums and open fields just perfect to take in the sunshine or go picnicking. It is actually bigger than Central Park and is really beautiful!

Easily accessible from the hop on hop off buses.Visit the Japanese Garden, which costs extra,as it is an oases of calm in a busy city.I prebooked the Alcatraz trip in the UK which included three days of the hop on hop off tour, which saved money.

Took the 5 bus out from Powell Street, but were disappointed that individual entrance fees of $8 each were required to access most features, so the cost would have added up quickly if we had ventured in to things like the Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Gardens, Museum, etc. We probably should have researched our venture out to the Park to... We spent a beautiful, sunny day at the park. We took a Lyft from our hotel in Fisherman's Wharf at about $17. We hiked a bit around a few of the lakes and walked downhill to Ocean Beach. We watched a few kite surfers and then had lunch at the Beach Chalet patio restaurant on the first floor. (Wonderful) We... More

This is an amazing citypark: Big, calm, beautiful, inspiring and relaxing. Take a walk through the beautiful gardens, bike through the tall trees, visit the excellent de Young museum, play soccer, tennis or polo, and reach the Ocean.

We only had a couple hours to visit here but it was lovely. We visited the garden and it was spacious and beautiful. Many pathways and places to sit quietly and enjoy nature while visiting such a thriving city. We just didn't get to enough of the but hope to return one day.

The park itself is free, and it is worth your time to visit. You can enter other attractions with a fee. This is one of the parks that you should visit when you are in the SF area.

Let me start by saying this park is HUGE. We spent about 5 hours walking through it. We started on the east end and made our way to the beach. There is a Japanese tea garden, archery, polo field, fly fishing ponds, carousal, a bunch of museums, a whole bunch of lakes and a boat house with rentals! Make sure... More

There are so many things to see but we were on limited time, so we chose the Conservatory of Flowers. What a beautiful place with so many different plants. The architecture of the building is amazing in itself. The grounds of the park are beautiful, well kept and planted with many different varieties of plants as well. We walked through... More
