Spent a lovely day walking round the Golden Gate Park. What a beautiful place it is. From the tranquil Japanese Tea Garden to the excellent De Young art gallery. If there had been live music playing on the band stand the day would have been complete. Make sure you go to the observatory tower in the art gallery. Stunning views... More

As a resident of London I am lucky to have lots of amazing parks to enjoy. When I travel I naturally compare the parks I visit to what I have at home and most places disappoint. Golden Gate Park was an exception to day the least. Despite the cold and rain I found it a fantastic place to enjoy and... More

This is a San Francisco gem. There are children's playgrounds, soccer fields, several small lakes with various specialties, botanical gardens, a Japanese tea garden ($$), bison, bike rentals, frequent concerts, hiking trails and more. On weekends there is a free shuttle that runs through the park every 15 minutes (sometimes it takes a little longer).

Golden Gate Park is a huge park. We rented a bicycle from Parkwide Bike Rentals. Their booth is set up Stanyan Street, opposite the Whole Foods Market. Bicycle rental is priced at USD16 for 2 hours (and USD12 for 1 hr, if I remember correctly). We cycled along John.F.Kennedy drive, past by the beautiful Spreckles Lake, Bison Padock, Dutch Windmill... More

One of the Big Bus stops and well worth getting off at. Good idea for a mid morning or afternoon tea stop. it's very popular with locals. Unfortunately some street people as well.

The park is very big, there are lots of different areas to visit and discover. Time did not allow us to do all we wanted but we did see a lot of the great buildings and artwork throughout the park. A very pleasant place to spend a few hours.

We biked through the park and it was lovely! It's flat, so it's easy to walk or bike through. The scenery is beautiful and there are a lot of peaceful areas.

Great place to walk to and get exercise when visiting San Francisco. Beautiful on a sunny California Day. Minutes to the wharf and San Francisco Trolley stops
