The park is so large that it takes about a week to see and do everything. Besides walking around and taking in the all the green, there are also paid attractions such as the Academy of Sciences, De Young Art Museum, Conservatory of Flowers, and the Japanese Tea Garden, just to name a few.

Unlike Central Park which is mostly intact, this park has busy roads and loads of buildings scatter throughout. We walked from the botanical garden to the exit by Haight and it is was not all that pleasant. An example of a beautiful pleasure park used as a site to put things. The botanical garden and Japanese garden are decent facilities... More

The park was huge. It was free to explore though there were features which you could pay for (such as entering the Japanese tea garden or the botanical garden). We were there on a warm day. In some parts people had picnics, there were things for sale, people rode sedgways or just sat on benches.

Clean, we'll maintained, lovely walking trails, majestic trees, cannot see it all in one afternoon, lots of choices for things to do.

If you love outdoors, you could spend a whole day exploring. There were free attractions as well as parks that have a fee to enter. Multiple attractions, food carts as well.

During a weeklong trip to SF I visited Golden Gate Park twice. The first time, my daughter and I walked through the Japanese Tea Garden. If you enjoy taking pictures this is a lovely place to do so. It is right next to the deYoung museum. I toured this museum solo on another day. I hate to say it but... More

Plan on a couple days to really explore this with or without kids. We enjoyed the Museum of Natural Sciences but needed to visit so many other things.

Don't underestimate it's size! Rent one of the bikes, or use the shuttle bus that runs on weekends and public holidays. (Easiest though if you have a car - easy parking throughout the park, some streets are closed on the weekend) I can really recommend to visit the bisons and the Spreckels Lake with all it's model sailing ships. I... More

Surprised by how beautiful the park was and the many attractions located in the park (Conservatory of Flowers, paddle boating, Science Academy, etc). You could easily spend a whole day there. We walked from the beginning (Haight Ashbury) through most of the park. We then picked up the free park shuttle off one of the main roads and were dropped... More
