We had been here a previous visit and enjoyed some space and greenery a after being in central SF. Picnicked and then strolled the Japanese Tea Garden and the Flower Conservatory. Each charged $8 per adult which seemed a little pricey but each was worth...More

Pleasant experience. Walked through the botanical garden. The park itself is free but the botanical gardens, art and science museums are not.

When you visit Golden Gate Park, you'll marvel at this man-made park made on top of sand dunes! It stretches from Stanyan Street to the "Great Highway" which borders along the Pacific Ocean. There are so many things to see there for example the Hall...More

We took the cab just because we had to see the Japanese Tea Garden and it was a fantastic garden. In one area of the garden there were lots of squirrels which we loved. They were not that shy. The garden is beautiful and we...More

We drove into Golden Gate park thinking that it was the park located next to the bridge. We were incorrect and quickly found out that Presidio was the location we had in mind. Not ones to miss the possible treasures of any destination we decided...More

Iconic inner city park. Beautiful and exceptionally well kept park. Would be a fantastic picnic setting. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to fully explore.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Is it safe to visit GGP? I’ve become concerned about going to GGP, after reading numerous negative reviews here on TA. Some travellers have described it as unsavoury, dangerous, dirty or filled with drug addicts and homeless people! My wife and I are in our late 50’s and we will be visiting SF for the first time in Sept from Australia. We’re not exactly adventure tourists who can be ready for anything! My wife especially is quite nervy, so although I have included GGP as one of the places to see, I’m now beginning to wonder whether we should just drop it. I would however like to go to the De Young Museum, so maybe we should just visit that one place and then get out. The day we plan to visit is a Sat. Not sure if that makes it better or worse? Any tips to stay safe if we do go? Thanks
