The subway and buses let off huge numbers of people who live in this area and up the hill. It's also the arrival spot for the Castro district with lots of restaurants and bars. Always people on the street.

Unfortunately this area has a number of homeless. If you look past them you will see what is such a vibrant, bright and colourful area. We stayed about 900m from here and felt very safe walking to and from dinner (we didn't stay out past...More

Has a lot of good photos and info about Milk. However, it is in a dirty underground train entrance. It is very scuzy and almost under a bridge looking structure.

Harvey Milk Plaza is unfortunately the entrance to the Castro Street Muni metro station. Aggressive homeless and open use of heroin and crack can be found here. Metro station personnel refuse to take any action.

After the movie Milk with Sean Penn many people got familiar with the name Harvey Milk and with his legacy. It was cool to see that the people from the neighborhood take care of this plaza proudly.

The Harvey Milk Plaza is a tiny memorial honouring Harvey Milk by means of several signs adjacent to a public transport station. The 'Harvey Milk Plaza' signage rests on a walkway that is lined with trees and greenery. All in all, this is not a...More

Harvey Milk was a civil rights icon of SF. If you have watched the movie about him with Sean Penn then definitely visit the Harvey Milk plaza.
