Sutro Heights is a great place to get away from it all. You can wander through grounds of Adolph Sutro's estate and work your way over to ocean view and soak it all in. Displays tell you a little about the man and the site. He developed the entire area including Cliff House and the Sutro Baths.

When we visited San Francisco in June, we spent some time at Sutro Heights Park and it is well worth a visit. We had visited Golden Gate Park and just headed a little north along the coast to reach Sutro Heights Park. It offers beautiful views and vistas plus a number of trails. It's a beautiful place and I highly... More

Went on a Sunday afternoon. There was plenty of parking and the crowds were reasonable. Very relaxing.

This park is on the hill above Cliff house and the Sutro Baths. It is quiet and dog-friendly. It used to be the Home of Adolf Sutro himself (Former Mayor of San Francisco 1895-1897), but it fell into disrepair and only a few things remain of the stately home and grounds. It has incredible views of the ocean and coast... More

A great little park, with a bit of sculpture, above the Cliff House and Pacific Ocean, with magnificent views in a peaceful, relaxing, uncrowded setting.

This whole area of San Francisco is just spectacularly beautiful with great trails and sweeping vistas. Remarkable that such a raw experience exists within this concrete city.

I cannot stress how beautiful the views are from Sutro Heights Park. Grounds are beautiful, and then an easy walk to Ocean Beach and Cliff House. A definite must see!

Senior citizens travel for a dollar on San Francisco buses and the routes are numerous. We took the number 38 west along Geary Boulevard to its terminus just above Seal Rocks and the entrance to Sutro Heights Park. From there you can meander along paths between wind sculpted trees in what was once a park filled with statuary donated by... More

San Francisco has a surprise (in some cases many) in every neighborhood. Sutro Park is one of those secret gems that is far enough from the tourists' foot path that is regularly missed (most people go directly to Lands End which is across the street). Usually there is only a handful of people walking in the park, so you'll enjoy... More

This is one of my favorite spots in the city. Gorgeous ocean beach views and super quiet. We just had my son's 11th birthday party and regardless of the fog and breeze, the kids spent hours playing capture the flag and running around. The only thing to consider is that for bathroom you have to walk to the Sutro's new... More
