It's a bit tough to find this place as the google location would point it as the street but in fact the information centre is is at the right location in under ground. Once when you reach there, the entire set of staff is too friendly and helpful to ensure we are reaching the right place and the right time... More

Can't say enough good about this place. The employees are knowledgeable, swift yet not at all pushy or aggressive. I recommend picking up a free street map and buy the $3. transit map only if you are strictly on bicycle. Also, I recommend a 3 day Muni pass for $31. It paid for itself in 1.5 days. Ask how to... It's like chatting to Aunt Sally who's lived in San Francisco her whole life. Why wouldn't you? Free maps, advice, and a changing board of up and coming events. They sell Muni Passes, CityPasses, etc, as well as SF souvenirs. Not so easy to find, you need to head down the stairs from street level, or upstairs from Powell Bart... More

The SF Visitor Information Center is located at Powell Street at the underground entrance to BART and the MUNI. Yes, there may be unsavory characters in the area but just pass on through and head over to the SF Visitor Info Center. During the day, there is not much to worry about but I would say use more caution as... More

The Visitor Information Center may not look like much and it’s a little hidden, one level down from street level at Powell and Market St., but don’t let appearances deceive you. It’s full of information that’s perfect for visitors and is a treasure trove of helpful maps. I’d encourage you to stop in. When I inquired on to get to... More

It was an experience wading through dirty, grimy, urine-smelling streets and homeless before we arrived at the Visitor Information Center on lower level of Hallidie Plaza on Market St. The center is an entirely different world, clean, bright and cheery! The staff on duty was extremely helful and friendly. There were tons of literatures ready to take and advice to... More

We used the services of the Visitor Information Centre a few times while visiting San Francisco (we were staying at a hotel nearby). We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We were provided with maps, directions, information on the location of attractions, and how to use the muni transport (including the location of certain stops). We also... More
