Visit San Francisco's most notorious site: Alcatraz. The rich history of Alcatraz Island means there is always something new to discover. See the first lighthouse on the West Coast, learn about Alcatraz as a Civil War fort, hear voices from the past on the cellhouse audio tour, find out about the 19-month occupation of Alcatraz by Indians of all tribes, and explore the natural side of the Rock with beautiful gardens, bird colonies, and breathtaking views. All tickets include roundtrip ferry transportation, all regularly scheduled Ranger-led or docent guided tours, and a captivating audio tour in the prison cellhouse with actual interviews of former guards and inmates who lived on the island during the infamous Federal Penitentiary era (now available in 11 languages - English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, Dutch, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian). Reserve tickets in advance and make sure to book through Alcatraz Cruises for guaranteed lowest prices. Alcatraz Cruises is the official National Park Service concessioner serving visitors to Alcatraz Island. Open seven days a week, with several daily departures, Alcatraz is a place to experience for locals and visitors alike. Alcatraz Island is truly an inescapable experience.

My family all enjoyed this trip! It was like going back in time. The headset tours were wonderful and the old prison is very haunting. Beautiful bird and wildflower sanctuary too. Book in advance though! Very popular, allow plenty of time to explore.

The Angel Island tram tour only had one photo stop. Then one hour 'free time' when the only facilities within walking distance were the ranger station and the cafe. We would have preferred more photo stops making the tram tour last longer instead of free...More

Essential to book tickets well ahead for boat trip across to Alcatraz. Well organised getting large number of people on and off boats. Short introductory talk on arrival to Alcatraz island prior to collecting head phones and going at own pace exploring. Learnt a lot...More

Good cruise but unfortunately you could not hear the audio from on top of the cruise ship. Lots of people and not enough seats. All in all the scenery was good but I could have paid a lot less for just a boat tour.

This tour was very educational. I learned a lot about Alcatraz. The boat ride was quick and you didn't have a specific time to leave the island. There is quite a bit of walking and hills. We had a stroller and couldn't go into a...More

Having arrived, on time, we boarded, and off. The trip was quick, and informative, as we sailed over to the island. The fact that you can stay as long as you like, on the island, allows you to take any boat back, as long as...More

The cruise to the island was a great experience, the audio tour was detailed, informative and extremely interesting, the views around the island were magic. Alcatraz Island is much more than a story about a prison. A must do in San Francisco.

We couldn't get on a tour of only Alcatraz, so ended up taking the tour that included both Alcatraz and Angel Island together. Angel Island also has a very interesting history and we enjoyed that more than we thought we would. Make sure you bring...More

All other cruises only cruise around the island. This is the only company allowed to dock and offload passengers onto Alcatraz. You can by your tickets on the web in advance. It is highly recommended to do so especially if you want to take the...More

Sounds like you purchased from a 3rd party company. Your voucher should state which company is providing your tickets, and they should be able to provide you with the exact time of your Alcatraz Island departure time.

You can take the trolley, or Muni streetcar, on Market Street to Pier 33. Take the F-Line to Fisherman's Wharf then get off at Bay Street. Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing is right by Embarcadero and Bay Street, so it's a short walk... More
