One of our favorite things to do when visitng the City. We live nearby in the Santa Criz mountains and visit 3-4 times a year. If you have a car there is not better way to spend a day or two exploring the City. the Route will take to all the neighborhoods and near or to nearly every major landmark... More

Like any city tour a good way to discover where you want to revisit and spent more time. The tour we took Went over the Golden Gate Bridge both ways and stopped for photographs also visited the Twin peaks for the best view over the city

Yes, you could do inner San Fran by transit and on foot, but then you'd miss this scenic drive. One of our fav things to do!

We drove this tour with a friend who has lived in the bay area for 22 years. She bypassed some of the neighborhoods because she either felt they were unnecessary or the neighborhoods had changed and weren't that safe. Occasionally we had trouble following the route. There are 49 mile signs but it is difficult for the driver to drive... More

This is a great way to see all parts of San Francisco; however, traffic is exponentially worse now than it was when we visited several years ago, which can make the drive a little difficult and frustrating for those of us who are unfamiliar with the city. Allow plenty of time to make stops and allow for getting lost a... More

For first-time visitors discovering the lay of the land or those who can’t leave until they’ve seen it all, the 49-Mile scenic drive is a fantastic way to get acquainted with all of San Francisco. If you are only going to be in the area for a day or two, then an unique way to fit them all in is... More

The scenic drive was created in the 1930's to help promote San Francisco's treasures. It more than accomplishes that task. In a very short time you are introduced to a unique blend of city, ocean, mountain and trees. It is stunningly beautiful and a great way to get familiar with the city by the bay.

I did the 49 mile drive 20 years ago , it was great , I tried this year and 80 % of the route signs are missing . On some parts of the drive you only have to miss a turn and it throws you off course , because there are so many one way streets and turn restrictions .you... More

There isn't a single visitor who had come to see us and not gone to 49 mile drive. It always ends up being one of their top 3 attractions in Northern Cal. Well organized and one of the most breath taking views anywhere in the world. At the end of the drive you end up in beautiful renowned Carmel city... More

SF is 7 miles by 7 miles for 49 square miles. If it takes me 30 minutes to go half way across town, 3.5 miles, or longer, do the calculation for the 49 mile scenic drive. You'll go crazy with the driving, maybe even get a ticket or two, but never completed close to 10 miles before giving up! Beware... More
