Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

This is a quiet beach that not a lot of people seem to know about. Perfect view of the Golden Gate Bridge and also a great place to fly a kite! The waves can be larger or calmer depending on the wind and weather so...More

Coming from Alabama, it is definitely cold out there on the beach, but a must stop if in SF! The views of the bridge are incredible and we saw tons of humpback whales out in the bay!

Nice long beach with cool rocks to climb to get to other beaches and scenic views of Golden Gate Bridge. But watch out if you're with young kids--it's also a nude beach mostly for men --the day we went was cloudy and about 58 degrees...More

Baker Beach is a beautiful stretch with an unbelievable view of the Golden Gate Bridge! About 75 percent of the beach, and nearest parking lots, is for those preferring swimwear. The northern end, as you walk closer toward the Bridge, is the acceptable nude stretch...More

The location of the beach , west of Golden Gate , is beautiful. The proximity of the bridge from the beach is fascinating. Weather wise, very windy and chilly. Go prepared with wind cheaters and sweaters. Go early so that parking is not an issue....More

Popular with locals, Baker Beach enjoys fresh breezes and a lovely view of the Golden Gate Bridge and of huge ships approaching and leaving the bay. The north part of the beach is clothing optional, but all the rest is just a normal beach. It...More

Their is rocks close to the surface of the water. To keep ships away this was built. This is what I had been told by a couple of people who lived near the south end of Baker Beach
