This is a great opportunity to learn about a little known president. You check in for the tour at the visitor center. They have moved Johnson's tailor shop (his occupation before politics) into the visitor center and it's pretty cool to see. There is also...More

Our party of 4 ended up as the only people in the 3:30 tour on a Saturday afternoon of President Andrew Johnson's Homestead. Our ranger guide, Carol Quinn, was most informative. She has an obvious passion for her work. On her own initiative, she continues...More

Very interesting site to learn about our 17th president. It's actually multiple sites (first home, tailor shop, homestead, and cemetery). Overall it provides a good understanding not only of Pres. Johnson's life, but also the events that were occurring at certain times of his life....More

My son loves all things historic and presidential. This place fit the bill perfectly. Such a quaint little town and all of the buildings are within walking distance of each other. Lots to discover here!

The website mentions a Christmas closure, but I don't see a New Year's one mentioned. You might want to try calling them sometime this week or next so you don't drive over there just to be disappointed.
