Overview
More
From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . Wow! This place is more beautiful than any park I've ever been to. Hands down the most breathtaking, panoramic view you could imagine! If you are going to Canyonlands this is on the way but it is well worth the extra trip if you pass...More

Went here on a whim and was so pleasantly surprised by the awesome beauty of this place. It's like a combination of the best aspects of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion. Very accessible -- easy to do in a half day.

Dead Horse offers far better views of the Canyonlands than Canyonlands National Park (at least without hiking forever).

This State Park was a great place to stop and visit, so many things to see and do within the park. It's a must see in Moab, UT.

The main attraction of this park is at the very end of the road - Dead Horse Point. It doesn't take long to get there and the view is quite famous, of the Colorado river curling around. The visitor centre is also worthwhile visiting and...More

My husband and I made a brief stop at Dead Horse Point State Park after we visited Canyonlands. While it was admittedly a bit anti-climactic after looking at other canyons all day long, it was still a stunning beautiful place to see. Definitely take some...More

I'm thinking about a visit in mid-May to ride Dual Sport motorcycles. Would reservations be recommended that time of year?

Hello, Yes, reservations are definitely recommended. At this time, all of our sites are booked for May, however, if you continue to check back you might find one open up. Happy travels. CW
