If you want to see senic canyon rock and river without the strain of hiking, this is for you! You can drive up to the art panels and just admire them. Further up the road are dinosaur tracks-easy scramble for the sure footed (if not, binocs will get you a great view). Spent about 90 minutes. Not in the parks,... More

The riverside cliffs and camping areas were amazing. Colorful changes as the day progresses highlighted with desert vegetation and the Colorado River. Bring your camera and gawk for hours. Great any time of year.

Newspaper Rock is on UT highway 279. The ancient petroglyphics are still so clear. They are an amazing part of history.

DO NOT MISS THIS DRIVE!!! This is only about a 16 mile drive almost right across the road from Arches National Park. You can see the road from above when in Dead Horse State Park which is what made me explore it to begin with. This is a picturesque drive along the Colorado River with huge columns of rock to... Head down a road just outside of downtown Moab - go past the cliff climbers - and then park your car to walk right up to rocks. Amazing!

I wouldn't use the campsites as they are literally right next to the road and probably party central in the summer but there are plenty of spots to stop and look around. The whole drive right up to the dirt road ramp to Canyonlands is about an hour so it's a great after diner too tired to keep trekking activity... More

You don't want to miss this drive. It is close to Moab and the perfect introduction to the beauty of the area. There are a number of view points and short hikes just off this road, so you can spend as long or as short a time here as you wish. I especially enjoyed the Corona Arch hike!

This petroglyphes are a very interesting point in the middle of nowhere. You have to use the Byway 279 for some miles, to find it.
