Overview
More
The Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run is a living history museum that portrays family life on a small, low-income farm just prior to the Revolutionary War. This privately funded and operated National Park, located in McLean, Virginia, has served more than 2 million visitors since it opened in 1973, and is host to increasing numbers each year. The popularity of the Farm is due in large part to its continuing focus on authenticity and its ongoing encouragement of both child and adult visitors to participate in the daily activities of an 18th century family farm. Experiential learning is a growing trend with most museums and the Farm has been a leader in this —-for over 40 years. The Farm has achieved national recognition for its innovative educational programming that uses the 18th-century Farm as an authentic representation of colonial agricultural history to provide perspective and context for present day life. Each year, thousands of students visit this working class farm, which recreates the life and times of a tenant family living in northern Virginia in 1771.

Claude Moore Colonial Farm is unique in the National Park System as the only park that does not receive Federal funding. It is also unique in that it isn't the glitzy Williamsburg lifestyle that the upper echelons of society experienced, but what life was like...More

The price is right: $5 for adults and $3 for seniors age 60 or over. The property is set in the slightly rolling hills with both forested and cleared land. Even though the trees had lost their leaves, it was a nice walk. During peak...More

What an unexpected experience with a visiting friend and her two children...as we entered Claude Moore Colonial Farm in late October. Colonial America in 1771, authentic costumes and friendly "settlers", wonderful farm animals and curious geese hoping for a snack. Perfect location in the Virginia...More

It was a friends recommendation which brought us here. Very nice, interesting and educational farm. We had a very nice visit. Ample parking available, picnic tables. Be careful, the GPS sends you to a private community.

We went on a whim with my mother and son. The farm is small but interesting. When we arrived the geese and turkeys were in their crates. We didn't know what was in the crates until we heard the raucous noise which was really funny....More
