Stunning water falls as the water gushed through, over rocks in a torrent. As it was raining today it sure was doing a lot of gushing! There’s a nice walk along the tow path and a good boardwalk you can do on a less wet...More

Absolutely my favorite place to take out of town visitors. Spectacular. Easy to get to by car. Allow a couple hours to hike around. Wear comfortable shoes.

You can approach the falls from both sides of the Potomac River, the Virginia side or the Maryland side. Both offer great views and are worth the visit. The best time to go to the falls is when the water level is not at its...More

Great Falls is so much more than any picture can depict. It is a masterpiece of nature. The park is lovely to visit and the three vantage points are just wonderful. Take time to walk the other trails as well.

Even the road to Great Falls is beautiful, first with many lovely homes, and then with the forest. With my lifetime national park membership, we didn't have to pay to enter. We were there on a Saturday and it was quite busy, with families and...More

We saw several groups picnicking just east of the visitors center. As far as shopping for food we drove by a couple of stores 10-15 minutes from the entrance. We didn’t see anywhere that sold concessions in the park.

Not 100% sure, there were areas with seating and tables and I think BBQ's, I would ring and check with them so that you are not disappointed. Lovely place to visit!!
