The Los Alamos Historical Society preserves, promotes, and communicates the remarkable history and inspiring stories of Los Alamos and its people for our community, for the global audience, and for future generations. These stories are told in the multiple buildings of the Los Alamos History Museum through exhibits on the Ancestral Pueblo people, the homestead era, the Los Alamos Ranch School, the Manhattan Project, and the Cold War. The museum includes a gift shop and is open from 9-5 weekdays and 10-4 on weekends.

This has some very interesting historical information in about 3 buildings related to the Manhattan Project. They are working to include more sites and displays. In time it could be more beneficial to visit. It is mostly operated by volunteers who are understaffed.

Driving to Las Alamos from Santa Fe is easy enough and its a good road. The museum is most definitely worthy of a visit. So much history and something that will forever affect world events. For us this was a museum. We have also visited...More

The group of buildings that make up this county historical museum are situated in a peaceful park-like setting. The museum complex does a good job of documenting everyday life for area residents prior to, during, after the US government's decision to confiscate land and facilities...More

The 90 minute spy tour was incredible. Ice history tour would have been a good alternative but I knew very little about the spies that shared nuclear bomb information during WWII. Nicknames of. David Greenglass and his wife were Bumblebee and Wasp. His sister in...More

What a disappointment! The new History museum is a few sterile rooms with dummied down posters and pictures. All the information could be easily found with a cursory internet search on the topics. Certainly redundant if you have just been to the fabulous Bradbury around...More

An important part of WWII history. We especially were interested in the living condition of the population during the Manhattan Project. Can enjoy some of the comments the scientists made about others they worked with. This was a race to beat the Nazis with the...More

Visited here after a day at Bandolier Monument. We only had an hour until closing but that was enough time. The self guided tour was informative and the staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. I'm glad we made the last minute decision to visit before heading...More

We thoroughly enjoyed this small museum. It is set in several buildings on beautiful grounds. Be sure to visit the NPS office across the street before visiting, it nicely sets the background for the museum.
