Medium Hike for Beautiful Rewarding Views

Incredible views and scenery for a medium length hike. Hike is not easy, but views are very rewarding. Do not miss this hike! Allow a couple hours.

Many people turn around along the way. Although this is also a ideal hike to get great views along the way - its really worth it to make your way all the way to the end. It took us about 3h for the roundtrip (medium fast hikers). This was the one hike in the National Park we were most satisfied... More

I'm giving this 5 stars just because it was closed for bears! bears! I can't wait to hike this now. The view from the closed parking lot looks like this is a real beauty of a hike but then again you can't go wrong in the Basin.

There is a trail map that would help - it was not at the trail head when we were there, but might have been available at the ranger station. Otherwise, we were prepared with hiking poles and good shoes, but did not take enough water. We had three bottles between us. Should have had four. Trail is steep in places,... More

I was soooo excited to see a black bear before I started the trail. I wasn't looking for it but saw the movement as I was parking. The trail is not that difficult.. it would be easier if I was in better shape. I went only part of the way.. Had to stop often to take pictures of he beautiful... More

Pretty steep hike, but short. Can be done in a few hours. The views on the way up are really nice and you can park right at the trailhead.

I enjoyed this trail very much. There are some spectacular views along the way. There are several switch backs as you near the summit. We hiked this trail in the middle of the afternoon. Fortunately the sky was overcast and it was cool. I would recommend hiking this trail early in the day due to the warm temperatures here. Or,... More

It is 4.8 miles round trip with VERY well groomed switch backs. The views were amazing the entire way and especially once you get to the top! Would recommend to anyone who loves to hike. There are markers the entire way and marker 24 is at the top. The views are 100% worth the incline. It is mostly a gradual... More

We loved this hike. Even after a mile up you can stop and gaze and see forever. This is an easy hike; about 3 hours round trip. Take a lunch with you and have a picnic at the top. It was so quiet we could hear the wind blowing. A couple of steep switchbacks so watch your steps coming down.

There is no restrooms so make sure you stop at the information center first. There is parking right at the start of the trail. On a hot summer you might want to take a bottle of water or at least have one in the car so when you get back. If you are not use to doing trails it might... More
