This was a great area to just walk around and take in the local art and culture. We stopped in at a few galleries and all of the staff were friendly, welcoming and happy to talk to us about their work. This area is also...More

I didn't know what to expect when I visited - but really enjoyed it. Artists of all varieties in old buildings working on their craft. Not much open on Sundays, but was able to browse enough that it was worth spending the morning. The city...More

Lots of stores and shopping in this area. Lots of local artists sell in the stores downtown here. You can purchase some really nice things and there is lots to see and do. Lots of Cafe's and Restaraunts also. There is a large library with...More

If you are someone who loves local art, the River Arts District should be on your list of places to visit in Asheville. It is a interesting urban renewal project that brought economic vitality to Asheville after the floods, a century ago. Damaged industrial buildings...More

we always look for the artsy part of town and Asheville delivers. You might be thrown by the location- a rambling collection of old store fronts along the river, but there is a thriving artist vibe here. plenty to explore for an hour or 2....More

The River Arts District is a great place to spend an afternoon in Asheville. More than 200 artists and artisans exhibit their work in this reclaimed warehouse district. Many are working in studio and will explain their techniques for you. You will find paintings, pottery,...More

Enjoyed checking out various galleries and meeting artist at work. I like that the area is still organic and not commercialized. Disappointing that the hours are not consistent and many galleries were closed when the times on the door stated it should be opened for...More

See artisans working in their studios. Learn to blow glass. Great to see the process, buy directly from the artist and support this vibrant artist community.

Great place to visit....artwork on walls and buildings with many craft stores...meet the artists as they explain their work! Make your own mug or bowl! Then you can visit Old Belgium brewery for a cool off!

I think Saturdays are great times to visit. There are more people so parking is a greater challenge, but we visited on a Saturday and had a great time.
