I think every downtown needs this. We were able to see a lot of downtown because of this fun activity. A couple spots were missing though /:

This self-guided tour will help you get the lay of the land and see some key sites, including the Basilica of St. Lawrence, while learning about the history and culture of the city. You can get the pamphlet at the Visitor Education Center... be sure to use the Urban Trail Walking Tour not the commercial tear-off map... both cover the... More

A great little walk around Downtown, and I totally recommend allotting enough time to enjoy the shops/sights you are going to pass. There are plenty of little coffee shops for refreshments along the way, and its a nice little piece of interactive history. The map is a bit off on some of the landmarks, but the sculptures are very well... More

We did the Urban Trail to familiarize ourselves with downtown Asheville. It was fun trying to find all the places on the map (some were easier then others). Definitely a good way to see lots of side streets that you might miss. Learned some history and saw some art. Fun way to explore Asheville. Pick up your guide at the... More

We really enjoyed the walk you took to soak in the Urban Trail. Do take walking shoes and grab a brochure (you can get them on line as well as in the city). I am guessing that you walk for a good couple of hours just to take in all the 30 stops. It led you all through the downtown... More

Saw it listed on Asheville Tourism site. Picked up a map at the hotel & started to search out the locations. It is a real treasure hunt! We were unable to find a few landmarks on the first try & a few may be missing due to construction. It was a treat to share our finds with a local who... More

We decided to walk the Urban Trail during our visit to NC. We stopped in at the visitors center to get a map to help us around town to see the trail. There are engraved feathers on the pavement to show you the trails. We would be on the trail one minute then off. This was difficult to follow but... More

This was a wonderful walk through Asheville, full of stops along with way to highlight the history of the city. My only issue was that the path markings are disconnected and confusing. We had the official brochure and another map that indicated the stop and still found ourselves off the path several - and we are good map readers, I... More

i did this a couple years ago for the first time. we went in winter and it was blue cold but I seem to remember enjoying it. this time, we went this week, it was blazing hot so I planned 3 parts to the trail, go for about 10 stops or so and stop for a bit at fired up... More

We had a very hard time finding the brochure that guides you. It's impossible to do it without the brochure. Allot of walking but nice to do on a cool day.
