Ashville's downtown Art District is much like many other such communities. A lot to see but not much that appeals to most travelers.

Lots of interesting shops and restaurants. The art galleries were all different and I found them interesting, others were bored. The area is nice and clean and on a Saturday difficult to find parking. Most lots are $3 for the day. There is an old...More

It might be interesting for people that are into a lot of unusual art, but most of the art is odd and overpriced. It is not for the average person.

While there are a number of galleries on Biltmore Road (and some are quite good), others are scattered throughout downtown which means walking up and down hills in search of them. We also found a couple of galleries listed had gone out of business or...More

Hello Jerome, Did you pick up a gallery guide? If you recall, what galleries did you visit?

This is a very walkable city. We picked up a detailed map (from the visitor's center) that guided us on a loop walk where we saw/visited all the key areas.

Part of what makes Asheville the fun destination it is, the Art District is Bohemian Delight. Remember, food is also art. Delicious and delightful.

We had heard a lot about downtown Asheville and were expecting an area with lots of art centers and galleries, and arts and crafts, instead we found run down stores, second hand shops and overpriced restaurants.
