After having been to this river front park several times, I never even knew there was a playground. You can't see it from Amboy, but it's back behind the wooden bridge formations and the bike riding track. There are lots of things for kids to...More

This is an awesome playground for kids to run off some energy. Be aware though, bathrooms are quite a walk from playground. Nice bike path for older and younger kids to ride on. Not a lot of shade.

Dog Park- check. River front trail- check. Plenty of shade trees and green space- check. Lots of parking and trailhead/entry points along the route. Sports facilities too.

I go to Carrier park to walk our dog when we are visiting in Asheville. What a great place for walking, running, riding bikes. Definitely a family atmosphere. The park is kept clean and the dog owners seem very respectful about the park rules. Love...More

Came here to hang out with friends and their kids. The kids loved it and there was so much for them to do. At the time I visited there was construction, so I'm not sure if that's still going on. Helpful tip: The restrooms are...More

This is the site of the old Asheville Motor Speedway. New transplanted residents did not like the noise generated during the racing season.....so it was sold by the owner and a private group of investors who donated it to the city for a park. There...More

We are not from the area. We stopped to let the kids stretch their legs. Nice park lots of families and kids playing. I’m not sure if it’s a race track that goes around the park, but it looks like a small track. Also they...More

Love walking here or just watching the river go by. Weekends this place is usually packed with people. It has a playground I take my grandkids to.

Asheville is working hard to connect several parks along the French Broad River together creating a string of walking, hiking, picnicking and biking greenways/pathways. Good amount of free parking, noting that this is a very popular place on weekends with locals and can be crowded....More

That is a great question that I cannot quite answer but I suggest that you call the tourism office. I find that the trails are sufficient for me - and they are expanding as we speak: exploreasheville com

Probably last 15 or so years. There were many parts acquired at different times by Riverlink. The mellowdrome use to be a short race track for cars about 25 years ago. However I am not exactly sure.
