We got in about a quarter of a mile and met up with about 6 people heading back. Apparently the spotted a small black bear another quarter mile ahead. Where there's baby bear, mama bear isn't far behind. So we turned back. I noted many...More

Website claimed beautiful overlook 2 miles onto trail. Everything overgrown. We ran into at least 36 very disappointed hik ers who had hiked as far as 4 miles out on moderate to difficult trails (not easy like website claimed ) and had to hike back...More

Got a great workout on this hike but not much for scenery. I’ll bet in the winter the view is pretty good but in the summer the trees block the view. The hike wasn’t too challenging. We made it approximately 1 mile in and turned...More

We hiked this trail because it was closer to the house we are staying in than other trails. It is pretty basic as far as getting there. You get on the parkway and get off on the Craven Gap stop. There are stairs going up...More

Hard to say such a beautiful hike is just "average" but I had heard the trail offered numerous vistas. Perhaps in winter but now it's just a pleasant hike through the forest. Also a bit harder to navigate (loose rocks and mud pools) so unless...More

moderate and fun hike , beautiful views. But after a while we kind of got bored , its okay for families but not little children as it sometimes steeps up.

We had originally set out to hike Craggy Gardens Trail but it was very wet, misty and windy so we turned back after about a mile and drove down to Craven Gap. Here the elevation is 2000 feet less so it was warmer and a...More

This hike was so convenient to downtown Asheville, yet we felt like we were in a different world. The hike was a perfect balance of ease and challenge. Fantastic vistas, even in the fog!

This is a nic hike, little elevation change and nice views. I did not expect the trail to follow the parkway so closely which was distracting. The hikes to the south are very nice, we enjoyed the tombstone hike much more.

Nice high mountain trail. Not to difficult and winds for miles up by the parkway but relatively close to town.
