Compared to NYC retail areas, downtown crossing looks to have a big security problem. Not enough visible police. Starting a come back from the opera house out and has a few good little pubs/restaurants, but not a happy feeling place after dark. If you park...More

With the loss of Filene's and Filene's Basement, it's just not the same. Too many empty buildings and downgraded retail stores.

When Filene's was here, Downtown was a destination. Filene's Basement was a tourist location and a local's favorite. It seems as though once Filene's left---and nothing replaced it---the area went down a few notches. The gaping hole in the ground doens't help. Of course, there...More

I work downtown. I can honestly say I never find great things while shopping on my lunch break! It's nice to walk around and see this guy playing his electric guitar where the old Filenes used to be which now looks like a crater hit...More

Downtown Crossing is probably one of the least nice areas of Boston. It's surrounded by tons of great places, so it's not hard to find something else.

It's gone down hill over the last thirty years or so. The bookstores are gone. It's a disappointment. Hope it improves soon!

While Downtown Crossing is undergoing some changes, it's still a fun place to meet your friends or just go shopping. The one store that's sorely missed is Filene's Basement.

The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with
historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through
one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston
Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling
statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the
pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where,
during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting
children and eager tourists through the pond. Have

There isn't really any free parking in the area, mostly metered or parking garages.
