This tony neighborhood--one of the two most expensive residential areas in Boston--started as a bay. The bay was filled in during the 19th century to create the area now known by the name Back Bay. The area is known for its Victorian brownstones, the Boston Public Library, shopping, office high rises and upscale hotels.

I'd recommend staying here - its far enough out and close enough in to ensure quietness is within walking distance. Beautiful area - great bars

The views of the harbour, the skyline of buildings and the mass of boats bobbing about on a lovely blue sparkly sea - bliss

Complete contrast with the North End of Boston. Walkable grid pattern of streets are reassuring and are easy to maneuver. Just does not allow for hidden treasures in alleyways as other parts of Boston.

This is the area where the streets are lined with shops and cafes (with a few office buildings and malls thrown in). There were lots of young people on the streets enjoying themselves. Mixed in at the center are a few historic sites like the...More

Lots of local dinning places. Many places to have a lunch or dinner. Usually a very busy place. Take a walk along the shore and see all the sail boats.

We went to the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, Old South church. A quick break at Flour Bakery for Boston Cream Pie and then we sat in the small park across from the bakery and just people watched.

Great relaxing area of Boston for sure. Plenty of places to look around or eat. Building and homes are fun to walk around and look at.
