By land: Visit Cabrillo National Monument for good history and views or the Fort Rosecrans Cemetery for a reverent reflection of service to our country, The tidepools and coastal walk are fabulous on the west side below Cabrillo National Monument. My daughter's favorite place to visit for an out-of-the-way place, not so heavily touristed. Go down to Shelter Island or... More

This place is truly unique and impressive, a scenic overlook of the city and water at the end of a drive through a Navy Base, also overlooking Naval infrastructure for those interested. I think this is a must do for tourists in San Diego. Peaceful and lovely, opportunities for short walks, connected to the tide pools attraction. Closes at 5... More

This is a beautiful vantage point to have an outstanding view of much of San Diego, including one of the naval bases. There is a nice museum, good bathrooms and a gift shop. You can also head to tide pool but be sure it is low tide or you will only see waves. The parking can be difficult on the... More

This was one of my favorite locations to visit while on the first day of my visit to San Diego for the New Year. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL. There is simply not much better than to watch a setting sun bouncing off the ocean at Point Loma.

This was one of the best things we did in San Diego. Outstanding views of the bay and great waves crashing against the shore.

Check the tide tables, so you can get there at low tide and see the tidepools. We didn't but it was still a lot of fun, and some of the most beautiful ocean scenery I've seen.

The area has been greatly enhanced spice our last visit 18 years ago. The visitor center is informative, and the lighthouse is in good condition being well maintained. Walking down to the tide pools and the cove was interesting, especially from a geologic standpoint. The waves were leaving their splash, but not dangerous. Glad we had good weather as we... More
