Having visited various natural history museums we gave this one a shot. It was ok but most the fossils are cast replicas it is very educational on the species and extinct species that roamed the surrounding area.

The displays are well presented and informative, and there are plenty of well-informed, friendly docents who are willing to answer questions.

Recently went with my mom and 2 yr old son. He loved it! We were told that the dinosaur exhibit would be closing in a couple of days, and that the admittance charge was nearly double the regular admittance fee. We went for the exhibit...More

Wandering around Balboa park, we decided to enter this museum. The main exhibit is on the second (entrance) floor, which was interesting, although too "static". On the third floor, we saw different animal skulls but they lacked in information. If you wanted to check out...More

Family trip with cousins, aunts and uncles and this was popular with everyone! We bought the passes that let you go between any 5 of the museums in Balboa Park, which worked out great, but the Natural History Museum was the first stop!
