More than just one layout, the museum has 3 or 4 groups working on different huge layouts, ranging from the tiny N gauge to the large Lionel style O gauge. The dream layout for model train nerds is the accurate recreation of the Tehachapi pass...More

Lots of enjoyable trains to see. Highlight for my son and husband who are both into trains. Part of the Balboa cluster of Museums and reasonably priced. $10.75/adult and $4.00/child no tax on that.

If you're into trains and model railroads - it's worth checking out, but don't need more than 45 minutes to an hour. If you have smaller kids (under age 3), you can be done in about 30 minutes.

This turned out to be neat. They recreate railroads and landscapes with amazingly detail. All of our family enjoyed it.

My husband was in his happy place, this was a cool little gem ! Not your normal museum. Unique. Loved seeing all of the set ups and the trains running.

My husband and kids went (I decided to save the $10.75 adult entrance fee [$4 kids over age five; free for kids five and under] by sitting it out), and came out pretty quickly. They reported back that it was cute, but not much to...More

My toddler is a train buff. I surprised him by visiting this museum. We really enjoyed this place, the displays are amazing and volunteers are passionate and friendly. They approached to us to introduce the trains and asked whether we have any questions. I love...More
